The Peninsula London Launches The Macallan Red Collection

The Peninsula London has shouldered off competition to become the first venue not only in Britain but in the whole of Europe, to offer the entire The Macallan Red Collection.

Available exclusively at Brooklands Bar, high up on the hotel’s eighth floor with views across the city, The Macallan Red Collection Experience allows guests to sample the seven currently released whiskies that make up the prestigious assembly.

With age statements ranging from 40 to 78 years old, the Red Collection holds some of the oldest The Macallan whiskies ever bottled, each with a vivid rouge hue that celebrates the vibrant colors that naturally occur in the distillery’s liquids. So coveted is the set, a full lineup sold at auction for almost $1m in 2020.

Kirsteen Campbell, master whisky maker at The Macallan, said: “Created from some of the world’s oldest and rarest casks it is an incredible privilege to have crafted The Red Collection.

“It’s thanks to the foresight of previous custodians of The Macallan, who laid down and aged these extraordinary casks, that we have been able to curate such a remarkable selection of whiskies.”

While the whiskies can be ordered by the dram, in celebration of its rarity, The Peninsula London has crafted a highly exclusive tasting experience of the full collection. Each sample will be served in The Macallan x Lalique glassware, atop The Macallan red leather coasters, and expertly guided by one of Brooklands Bar’s bar team.

The experience also includes a The Macallan cocktail and paired canapes, as well as a Lalique crystal tumbler to take home. And how much for such an experience, we hear you ask? That will set you back a cool £20,000 (approx. $25,100) per person. Don’t waste a drop.

“We are delighted to be working with a prestigious brand such as The Macallan, who share and uphold the integrity of our own values,” added the hotel’s executive assistant manager of food and beverage, Simon Rastrick.

“Here at The Peninsula London, we are committed to going beyond the ordinary for our guests, The Macallan Red Collection is the perfect example of our unwavering search for excellence at every level.”
