When London has seen its fair share of exciting openings this year – from Raffles London at The OWO and The Peninsula to 1 Hotel Mayfair – you might think it would be hard to get excited at the sound of a new launch, and then you would be mistaken. As the city eagerly awaits for the doors to open at The Emory – the sixth property from The Maybourne Group, better known as the operators of Claridge’s, The Connaught and The Berkeley – it has just been announced that the Knightsbridge hotel will house a new restaurant from three-Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Slated to open on April 4, abc kitchens will be Vongerichten’s first location in the UK and will also mark the first time that his celebrated trilogy of New York restaurants – abc kitchen, abcV and abc cocina – sit under one roof.
Though the three standalone restaurants showcase different culinary offerings, farm-to-table fare, plant-based, and Latin-inspired, respectively, abc kitchens will seek to unify them through one biding philosophy: a passionate commitment to fresh, organic, sustainable, and ethically sourced local produce.

Those familiar with any of Vongerichten’s many other restaurants will know not to expect the traditional flavors or use of meat stocks and heavy creams. Instead, the menu at abc kitchens will present diners with the very best of Mother Nature. Dishes will be creative and forward-thinking, with a focus on seasonal, plant-based ingredients and take a supplier-specific approach to sourcing the finest quality food.
Diners can expect New York signatures on the menu, such as crab toast with green chili, dill and lemon aioli; crispy fish tacos served with aioli and cabbage-apple slaw; and chargrilled beef tenderloin served with chimichurri and lime. The drinks menu has been as equally thoughtfully constructed, with cocktails such as cucumber martinis and pomegranate mezcalitas designed to perfectly complement Vongerichten’s food menu.
Of course, the restaurant’s interiors match the caliber of the food on the table. Playing into the architecture of The Emory’s striking glass exterior, designer Rémi Tessie has used rich and comfortable furnishings and lined the walls with colorful artwork (including works by Damien Hirst) to create a vibrant and modern space.
The 'wine cave' fixture, an amber glass masterpiece, serves as a magnificent centerpiece, like an oversized glowing lantern housing a curated selection of wines. The restaurant will also feature an intimate private dining room seating up to 10 guests, nestled next to the heart of the kitchen with a view of the pass and dining room.
abc kitchens will officially open on Thursday April 4, 2024, with reservations due to open later this month.
