Introducing a $495k Dining Experience in Space

Leader in luxury space travel experiences SpaceVIP has partnered with pioneering chef Rasmus Munk – best known for his boundary-pushing cuisine at two-Michelin-starred Alchemist in Copenhagen – to launch an immersive dining experience some 100,000 ft above sea level.

Priced at a cool $495k per ticket with just six guests per expedition, the six-hour journey will launch from Florida onboard Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune – a carbon-neutral ship that can be propelled above 99% of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Set to be one of the safest ways for humans to visit space, Spaceship Neptune requires no training or special gear, is regulated by the FAA and the US Coast Guard, and follows NASA guidelines.

Onboard, guests can even enjoy WiFi throughout the trip, as well as a proper restroom. Mesmerizing views of the planet below can be enjoyed through the oversized windows – the largest ever flown to space.

Each guest will also be kitted out in a full made-to-measure ensemble by French fashion house Ogier, which will be creating outfits using cutting-edge fabric designed especially for this expedition.

During the gentle journey, guests will dine on a menu specially created by Munk. As with his menus at Alchemist – where he seeks to tell a multi-faceted story about the way he sees the world – this menu will follow his signature ‘Holistic Cuisine’ style, whereby each dish is intended to spark conversation around the planet and our relationship with it.

For this culinary immersion, Munk has looked to the role of space exploration in the last 60 years of human history, the impact it has had on society and the appreciation for Earth that such travel ignites.

“Alchemist’s domed main dining room draws direct inspiration from the awe I felt as a child, seeing the Earth from space at the Copenhagen Planetarium for the very first time,” said Rasmus Munk.

“[Immersion] is central to Holistic Cuisine, and my ambition is to blend gastronomy with art and science to create awareness about social and environmental issues. In this experience, I want to highlight food as a common thread in our human existence, and it will be truly meaningful to serve it while gazing down at the Earth's curvature.”

“Embarking on this unprecedented culinary odyssey to the cosmos marks a pivotal moment in human history,” said Roman Chiporukha, founder of SpaceVIP. “This inaugural voyage is but the first chapter in SpaceVIP's mission to harness the transformative power of space travel to elevate human consciousness and shape the course of our collective evolution.”

Marking the first in a series of Space Perspective trips developed in partnership with SpaceVIP, all proceeds from the expedition will be donated to Space Prize Foundation – a non-profit dedicated to removing gender-based barriers in this niche corner of science and technology.
